“Inspired by the soothing ripple effect in water.”
Ripple Low Table is a sculptural lounge piece inspired by the calming rhythm of ocean waves. The design translates this familiar movement - something instinctively felt in the body - into a tactile and functional object.
The piece consists of two intersecting volumes – a light, wooden tray and a more grounded base – which visually collide yet merge into a harmonious whole.
The base features a discreet storage drawer, while the tray, seemingly embedded into the sculptural waving body, is removable and can be used for serving. Set on hidden castors, the table moves easily through a space, adapting effortlessly to different settings. Ripple Low Table is a tactile invitation to pause, connect, and reflect. It brings a sense of movement and serenity into the room, offering both aesthetic pleasure and thoughtful practicality.
Boysen hand-shaped the form in clay following a day by the sea, where she studied the movement of water against stone. The design evolved through an interplay between physical modelling, 3D animation and material exploration.
The result is a lounge table that combines movement and stillness, poetic in expression, yet practical in use. Ripple Low Table is a tactile invitation to pause, connect, and reflect. It brings a sense of movement and serenity into the room, offering both aesthetic pleasure and thoughtful practicality.
