“Percept explores how material and geometry can shape not only an object, but also the way we perceive it.”
Percept Sideboard explores the relationship between material, geometry, and perception through a sculptural yet functional storage piece.
The project began with a fascination for embossed metal surfaces and their ability to transform through light. Depending on the viewer's position, the direction of the linear pattern, and the way the surfaces intersect, the same material can appear remarkably different. Reflections shift, soften, and dissolve into subtle, almost dreamlike impressions of the surrounding space.
The sideboard is composed of two volumes that intersect at carefully considered angles, creating a simple, graphic composition. As the forms overlap, layers of reflections emerge between them, generating a multidimensional visual experience that changes throughout the day as light conditions evolve and the viewer moves around the object.
Percept Sideboard is available in two versions: as a 360-degree piece designed to stand freely in a room and be experienced from every angle, or in a version intended for placement against a wall. From some perspectives, the surfaces appear calm and understated; from others, they become vibrant and reflective, revealing new relationships between form, light, and space.
The interior is crafted from oak and lined with embossed metal panels that extend the material narrative into the cabinet itself. Integrated handles and an anti-fingerprint finish contribute to the clean and precise expression.
Part of Anne Boysen Collectibles, Percept Sideboard is an exploration of how material and geometry can shape not only an object, but also the way we perceive it. It is a piece where function and atmosphere coexist, and where reflections become an active part of the design experience.
